A brilliant opportunity to join a dynamic central government organisation on a contract basis. Your new company Central government organisation based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Your new role You will be joining a team racing against the clock with Brexit. Government services are going through an enormous amount of change and this client are looking for a highly experienced writer and communicator to ensure the users of these services can consume content in the best way possible. Your new role If you are a fantastic writer with experience of writing for both online and offline channels, and can turn complex information into easy to understand, jargon-free copy, then this is a role you'd be brilliant at. The day-to-day * Analysing user journeys and engaging with business subject matter experts & policy specialists * Relating what users need to existing content, identifying gaps and overlaps * Helping with developing content plans and attending planning meetings with contacts * Developing and applying content and format strategies * Scoping, writing, editing and publishing digital content * Making sure user journeys are the best they can be * Managing relationships with subject matter experts to make sure content is accurate * Producing content assets that are accurate, timely, high quality (based on insight and outputs of user testing, relevant to the audience, easily understood, optimised for search engines) and aligned to GDS style guidelines * Recommending the best format for displaying information to the user and agreeing with stakeholders - including identifying the gap and suggesting ideas if the organisation don't have something suitable for reuse * Making sure appropriate policy and legal checks within other parts of government happen, and that content is published quickly and efficiently * Monitoring the performance of content and tools * Working with a multi-disciplinary team to understand user behaviour and feedback * Identifying ways to improve the content and the product * Providing constructive criticism to your colleagues to improve everyone's skills and work What you'll get in return You'll be joining a central government organisation at a truly historic time where the UK and it's services are undergoing huge change.
