Ambitious senior marketer with extensive and hands-on experience planning and managing substantial ATL advertising and paid digital media budgets across Europe, needed for this challenging new role with a leading European retail operation with outlets in Italy, Spain, France, Germany, the UK and other markets. In this senior role, you will define and deliver the regional marketing strategy for several countries - driving footfall, revenue and customer engagement with compelling advertising, digital and promotional campaigns, where appropriate adapting global media and digital content/assets to each market. This is a completely new role requiring a smart senior player, and reflects the company's commitment to delivering ambitious growth in European and international markets. Fluency in English and Italian is essential for this role, ideally with specific experience of planning media for the Italian market.

Key responsibilities include
  • Definition and delivery of the regional marketing strategy including responsibility for signing-off central and country-level marketing initiatives and media budgets, working with local market teams.
  • Managing regional ATL and PR marketing agencies, supported by internal media specialists in the UK Head Office.
  • Leading a regional team of marketers and analysts, including a number of regional marketing managers responsible for individual markets.
  • Managing the annual planning process including regular reporting on business performance and ongoing evaluation of marketing plans and results.
  • Using your understanding of consumer and media insight tools to drive continuous optimisation of media plans across all geographies.
  • Working with the central marketing planning team to ensure that there is best practice in media plan optimisation, channel selection, performance tracking and agency remuneration and management.
  • Sharing best practice marketing & media approaches with regional and Marketing heads and driving efficiencies across the group as well as test & learn initiatives.
  • Working closely with regional MDs, demonstrating the value of marketing in contributing to the ongoing success of the business.
Skills & Experience Checklist

This is an exciting and challenging role requiring an ambitious and smart candidate who can bring strong leadership, strategic and creative thinking skills to a fast-growing international business. It is likely that you will have some experience in a major retail organisation, working at a regional level, but you may also have a track record in consumer goods or services or in a media agency. The essentials here are an in-depth understanding of all aspects of ATL and paid digital media as well as fluent English and Italian. Other requirements include:
  • Extensive experience managing leading agency partners and large media budgets
  • Commercial and financial savvy with P&L ownership and strong analytical skills
  • Experience working at a regional European level
  • Ability to manage senior stakeholders and secure buy-in to your ideas and recommendations
  • Experience using research and analytics to develop robust media plans
  • Strong team leadership skills
  • Real personal drive with a passion for developing new ideas and opportunities for the business
