The University of Reading is looking for two talented and ambitious School Marketing Officers to join our Marketing & Campaigns team. This is a place where you can make a difference and become a valued member of a dynamic team of marketing and communication professionals.

Come and join us.

The University of Reading is one of the UK's leading research intensive universities, worthy of its place in the top 200 universities in the world. We are operating in a highly competitive, global market at a time when it has never been so challenging for HE institutions to attract research income, students, academic and professional staff.

It is the role of the central Marketing, Communication and Engagement (MCE) function to provide professional marketing, engagement and communication strategy and delivery across the University. We work in a matrix management model to build the University's reputation, brand and profile, and deliver robust, innovative and global campaigns that support recruitment and engagement targets.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Marketing & Campaigns team within MCE and bring new ideas and experience to the fore. This role supports a Marketing Business Partner to deliver marketing and promotional activities for designated academic Schools/Departments. The School Marketing Officer will play a key role in maintaining high standards in the recruitment of both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

This role will suit a motivated marketing practitioner, with a relevant qualification or experience, and who is looking to broaden their marketing skills. Previous experience of working in the HE sector is desirable but not essential.

You will have:
  • A good honours degree or relevant professional experience, e.g., CIM qualification.
  • Experience of implementing marketing strategies and effective communication plans to meet customers' needs, including experience of utilising traditional and digital channels.
  • Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal) - ability to write concise, engaging copy for non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to identify marketing challenges and initiate appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship building; tact, diplomacy and confidence.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
  • A willingness to respond flexibly to a fast-paced environment.
Please make it clear in your application which role you are applying for (either fixed term or permanent or both). You can mention this in the Additional Information section of your application.
