Our client is going through a period of expansion and are looking to take on a Head of Design to help support the growing design team.

A hybrid role; they are looking for someone who is comfortable working within the 2D and 3D landscape and who is a confident conceptual designer and excellent team player as well as being a highly meticulous organised manager of other creatives and multiple projects.

The skill-sets required of this role are as follows;

Event design key responsibilities:
  • Design, own and amend creative presentations through all stages of brief
  • Confident presenting ideas to clients and pitching
  • Conceptualising event designs using moodboards and conceptual write ups
  • Create 2D plans in Vectorworks
  • Work in Sketchup to communicate event/build designs
  • Understanding of designing to budgets in terms of build and materials
  • Knoweldge of different materials/working with build suppliers
  • Create quick Photoshop visuals to support creative presentations
  • Proofing all artwork before delivery
  • Creating artwork trackers and workflow documents for larger jobs
  • Liaising with suppliers and production staff
  • Keeping company creds up to date and preparing creds on a need be basis
  • Art directing on-site builds
  • Hiring of other design staff as required
Graphic design key responsibilities;
  • Overseeing the graphics side of events (however this is being phased out and graphics will become completely responsible for all this side with only your art direction required if requested)
  • Conceive of and implement graphic design identity concepts for events
  • Art direct graphic designers/artworkers to facilitate the roll out graphic concepts across a variety of assets from digital invites to physical event collateral
  • Quality control of graphic assets as they are installed on site
  • Knowledge of print processes
Required skills and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience within a creative agency or similar role within event/exhibition design
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Photoshop Illustrator and Indesign
  • Excellent knowledge of Sketchup and Vectorworks
  • Management skills vital to be able to art direct other creatives and additional freelancers
  • Ability to flag bottle necks in resource/design output
  • Management of multiple projects essential- sometimes you will be overseeing upwards of 10 projects at one time
  • Experience working creatively within brand or event style guidelines
  • Be able to work calmly under pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Be content taking creative direction but also working collaboratively amongst the team
  • Able to articulate your own opinions, tastes and have a strong design core intent
  • Confident in proposing and discussing materials and methods of production to bring concepts to life and within budget
  • Ability to steer stylists and direct when required alongside Head of Creative
  • Keeping all subs up to date for required design packages
  • Knowledge of Powerpoint/Keynote
