The fix is currently looking for an ambitious Senior technical designer to join an amazing agency in the home counties working on global projects with big clients. You will responsible for a team of CAD designers working across a wide range of projects to create high qualify technical drawings that meet both the client brief and the venue/event building regulations. You will also be hands on where you will deliver technical knowledge and expertise to high level projects, mentor designers and manage internal resources as well as direct reports. With 5+ years exhibitions and events experience, the Senior CAD Technician will work with the creative studio, project management, production and other internal stakeholders to create and oversee approval of technical drawings and specifications. As the Senior CAD Technician is responsible for ensuring all technical drawings are aligned with the approved design, meets all production specifications and follows all agreed internal agency standards and processes. You will develop an in depth understanding of key clients' brand and expectations, ensuring all technical drawings are consistent and aligned. You will bring an extensive understanding of fabrication methods and materials as well as venue/event building regulations that you will draw upon to propose technical solutions to design challenges. You will be fully fluent with Vectorworks software and an understanding of 3D design processes and tools is an advantage. As a vital part of the creative team, you will be an excellent communicator, be well organised and able to manage tasks to agreed deadlines, be a team player and have a passion for the events industry. You will keep up-to-date with latest design, innovation and industry trends at a technical level and be ready to share best practice with the wider team.


Team leader to the CAD team and responsible for internal resources.

Produce drawings and documents through all stages of the design process. Aid in the design and concept stages, produce layouts and detailed technical drawings using Vectorworks in accordance with design specifications and venue/event building regulations.

Detail all elements of drawings to the agreed agency standards and to reflect all necessary information required by sub-contractors to effectively quote for and build the structures and in line with the approved designs.

Work with the studio and freelance creatives to ensure all work meets standards required to both win and produce high quality output. Keep accurate records of work created for reference and to support quality control.

Participate in client meetings and internal meetings to effectively present CAD work, from pitch through to development and delivery. Maintain accurate timesheets and records of costs incurred.

Develop and keep up-to-date with latest tools/techniques to produce CAD work, as well as guiding others.

Organise and plan own work, manage time effectively and maintain focus on strategic projects.

Work with the production teams to ensure CAD design stays strong through to delivery and discuss alternative approaches if budgets/constraints become restrictive.
