To develop and implement commercial strategies targeting specific attractive market segments in the UK.

Identify the decision making structures and processes which operate within the focus segments, as well as any key decision makers and influencers.

The key responsibilities for the Marketing Manager based in Bristol:


* Is a member of the Regional Marketing Management team, and is expected to provide key inputs on matters of commercial strategy and performance


* Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the markets in which the UK business operates - sectors, customer types, and routes to market, competitors, technical standards - and key market trends.

* Understands the commercial levers available to maximise opportunities and / or negate competitive threats, and realise UK's financial and business objectives.

* Executes extensive quantitative and qualitative market research (commissioned and self-led, desk based and in the field) of the construction sector in order to understand key attractive market segments.

* For each identified attractive market segment, develops an in-depth understanding of:

a) The technical / practical requirements for the relevant building type (e.g. building standards / codes)

b) The decision making structures and processes prevalent in the segment, along with key decision makers and influencers

c) The needs (met and unmet) of the decision making unit

* Develops value propositions and strategies from this analysis to target each focus segment, based on identified needs.

* Working with other marketing colleagues, develops and implements product and service offers, and communications and promotional plans, to fulfil the value propositions for the target segments.

* Ensures that the value propositions are coherently positioned and completely aligned with the overall brand and business strategy. Also ensures they are clearly and well understood by all relevant stakeholders (customers, marketing colleagues, agencies, sales teams, etc.).

* Establishes action plans and targets and gains commitment to them across marketing and commercial functions. Tracks progress and ensures corrective actions are put in place where necessary.

* Proactively feeds input back into the innovation pipeline, either to improve current offerings, exploit identified opportunities or close competitive gaps

* Provides input into commercial and financial planning with estimates of volumes, mix, revenues and margin potential per segment

* Ensures that any actions required by colleagues are communicated swiftly and clearly and followed up effectively


* Adheres to company defined processes and controls at all times and acts responsibly towards company property

* Promotes a positive image of the company in the market place and act as a "best example" to colleagues at all times

* Ensures that all actions identified in his / her development plan are completed in a timely manner - demonstrates a constant desire to improve


The successful Marketing manager based in Bristol will look like:

* Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or a business-related discipline; or in a construction-related discipline with demonstrably successful marketing experience

* Post-graduate degree in a Marketing / Business related discipline

* Recognised professional marketing institution accreditation

* Several years' experience and successful track record in B2B marketing/business development

* Demonstrable experience in creation, delivery and implementation of value propositions

* Experience of the construction sector in the UK, with a good working knowledge of building standards and regulations

* A good knowledge of the building project cycle and the key players involved at each stage

* Some experience of, or exposure to, working in an international group

* Ability to work closely with customers / decision makers and gain insight using sophisticated interview techniques

* Analytical, strategic thinker

* Articulate and persuasive - strong and confident communicator

* Tenacious - sees projects through from beginning to end

* Credible - able to challenge and influence people at all levels, and within different types of organisation

* Strong teamworker - able to work on own initiative or through co-ordination of others, and comfortable within a matrix organisation

* Focused - keeps objectives in mind at all times, minimises 'distractions'

* Demonstrates ability to present in an ambassadorial capacity for the organisation when in dialogue with external parties

* Well-rounded building technology know-how, ability to relate products and systems to applications in the field
