With heavy investment already well underway into strategic innovation and new product development, the nature of the relationships between company, product and consumer are being redefined and significantly improved. The UK & Ireland is a big market, an influential, very challenging one and especially high-profile given that it is home to the global management of the company, but it is also where the most transformative and ground-breaking changes are being conceived and realised. The loyal customer base is experiencing a broadening of options it has never seen before.


At this pivotal time in its history, the company wishes to appoint a dynamic Head of Consumer Marketing to lead the development and delivery of a consumer marketing strategy, for all categories, in the UK & Ireland. As part of the Leadership Team for the UK & Ireland and reporting directly to the General Manager, the position carries enormous influence on what is the operating board of a major FMCG business, and with it, clear P&L accountabilities. The marketing function comprises teams of professionals whose expertise span the full marketing spectrum of research, insight, branding, portfolio development, channel management, digital marketing, marcomms, activation, and consumer engagement for both the long-established products and their emerging next generation alternatives. The role will also require a high degree of integration and alignment with strategies, activities and innovations in other international markets and their complex supply chains, both consumer and trade, all over the world. This is a hard-edged marketing role as the analysis and assessment of the commercial value of brands and products, old and new, will be fundamental to the success of this business for many years to come. In addition, this role demands strong leadership, interpersonal communication and relationship management abilities as it interacts not only with the marketing teams, the UK & Ireland Leadership Team and consumer groups, but also with Group functions, suppliers and numerous third-party stakeholders.


  • Marketing Degree or equivalent
  • MCIM or FCIM
  • MBA an advantage
  • Demonstrable career success in FMCG/consumer marketing
  • Strategic, but can build, shape and implement too
  • Influencer

  • Knowledge and understanding of new product development, launch and activation 
  • Experience in regulated markets
  • Proven P&L and financial competencies with strong commercial acumen
  • Prior achievement in senior management and leadership roles
  • Collaborative, ideally with a background in matrix management structures of large corporates
  • Innovative and enterprising, but with considered judgement
  • Managing and ensuring maximum efficacy of a substantial marketing budget
  • Numerate with excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
