An award-winning international legal firm is looking for a Business Development Manager to join their highly-regarded BD team on a 12 month fixed term contract basis.

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for the BD and marketing activities for an Advisory group of practices, encompassing Tax, Commercial, IP and Pensions. The role is both strategic and operational, with a focus on delivering a first class service to the partners in these groups. With management responsibility for two direct reports, you will work with the Head of Business Development and other Business Development Managers to ensure that activities are aligned across practice groups to ensure a 'one firm' approach to clients. You will provide input into the business planning process, helping to identify market and client trends and growth opportunities from existing and new potential clients and creating targeted business development and marketing plans that flow from the business plans, to help achieve the financial, client and market penetration objectives of the firm. Managing and tracking the business development budgets, the successful applicant will work closely with the firm's Client Relationship Advisor to ensure that client action plans are created, monitored and actioned for the most significant clients and assist the Bids Manager in supporting, pitching and winning new business. On the marketing side you will be tasked with planning and delivering targeted thought leadership to clients and managing the practices' directory and awards submissions. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring client facing events are planned, organised and delivered to the highest standards and working with the events team to assess the value and relevance of various sponsorship, events and other corporate hospitality opportunities to ensure best value for the firm.

The successful candidate will be a graduate or equivalent, preferably with a relevant professional marketing or business qualification, and will have previous relevant experience working within a BD role in a professional services environment, to include prior experience of working with advisory practices, such as tax or commercial and will understand the supporting role that these practices play to transactions as well as their standalone activities. The Business Development Manager will also be proactive and commercially-astute and will possess the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients and will be comfortable and confident in providing recommendations to senior level stakeholders.
