The Assistant Product Manager role will be a part of a strategy to create an organisation delivering superior solutions to customers, being recognised and admired by customers, internally and by the wider Building Products industry. Working with the wider Marketing, Technical & Product Management teams, the role is responsible for developing and delivering the product strategy for the market.

Through growth, my client is looking to add an Assistant Product Manager to join a highly driven and successful team.


The key responsibilities of the Assistant Product Manage include:

* Own the forecasting for defined products, ensuring that Supply Chain have up-to-date forecasts for all products as well as increased demand expected from project and promotional activity.
* Act as the technical expert for the defined products.
* Provide product-related information to internal and external customers as required.
* Drive product turnover and profitability by working with sales teams ensuring best practise is shared
* Maintain/improve the profitability of the identified portfolio through the execution of product related projects, as identified in the operating plan.
* Identify opportunities for new products and/or promotions. Quantify/justify the market potential for these and manage their subsequent development and introduction.
* Produce the annual budget for identified products. Ensure that the sales force are sufficiently motivated, driven, informed and trained to ensure that the budget is capable of being delivered. Give product training/information to support the sales force as required. (ad-hoc and planned presentations)
* Develop and implement marketing programmes in support of the budget and other company/marketing objectives.
* Carry out a "rolling" evaluation of competitor activity across the marketing mix. Communicate significant points of interest and develop appropriate responses to competitor activities that threaten profitability.
* Research customers/consumers to ensure that the products offered meet current and future needs. Underpin new product development activity with sound customer needs analysis.
* To manage the development and launch of products taking account of the full marketing mix and internal communications.
* To monitor, and report on, the performance of the products owned (monthly or as required by the business).


The successful applicant will have the following qualifications and qualities:

* Degree qualified (Marketing or Business Studies) or have hands on work experience (ideally 1 or 2 years) within a similar field.
* Previous product marketing experience is desirable (not essential).
* Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Have a willingness to learn and take ownership.
* Be a team player, also have the ability to work independently.
* Must have a can-do attitude.
