Our client is a Private Equity owned FMCG business operating in one of the fastest growing and exciting categories around. Sold through the multiple grocers and a number of “specialist” outlets, they have been enjoying an impressive trajectory over the last few years.

Now, with significant investment, this previously family owned branded business is in double digit growth, which is only set to continue.  Led by their highly impressive new CEO, turnover presently stands at c£50m, with a vision to become a £100m brand over the next 3-5 years. A key element in achieving this will be a step change in innovation and NPD, thereby resulting in the business critical hire for a Head of Innovation.

The Role

Through a strong understanding of your consumers & shoppers, you'll be responsible for leading and devising an innovation and portfolio strategy in order to identify market and category opportunities. In turn, you'll lead the development and launching new compelling products to market that will drive incremental value to both the business and the wider category, building our clients standing with their key commercial partners.

You must be able to demonstrate

You will be an FMCG (ideally food or beverage) marketer, probably at “Controller” or “Head of level”  and with a demonstrable track record of achievement in NPD / innovation within a branded environment. Possessing a good understanding of the UK Grocery market, you'll have the ability to think strategically as well as taking a “hands on” approach and with personal responsibility. You'll be decisive, have the ability to act with pace, in tandem with being commercially robust and having awareness of the P&L at all times. Experience of working with 3rd party manufacturing partners would be advantageous. It will be important that you can operate and be comfortable in a results driven, bottom line aware environment where you'll have true ownership and accountability. Equally, building strong relationships and working well cross functionally will be a critical requirement.  A team of Product and Design Managers will report into the role.
