Using technology and innovation to transform digital channels

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent's diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community and the Mayor of London has also named us London Borough of Culture 2020 - so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

We are looking for an experienced Digital Marketing Manager to join our new Digital Marketing Team - which is a key function of the council's Communications team. This new and exciting role is responsible for accelerating the development of our corporate website ensuring that we capitalise on the opportunities presented by digital innovation and technology to encourage more people to use our digital channels. You will improve the quality and cost effectiveness of the council's online content and services so that user experience is consistently improved.

We've just transitioned to an AGILE process for web development so it is important that you have knowledge and experience in this area. You will also be responsible for maximising the revenue generated from external sources through advertising, sponsorship and sales opportunities. Although this is the second most senior role within the Communications team, with the post holder reporting directly to the Head of Communications and deputising for him when necessary, it is also quite a hands on role.

The role requires expertise in website development, analytics and reporting, digital marketing strategy and online brand management. A key part of your role will be to lead and deliver digital marketing campaigns for a number of high profile projects which support the council's transformation agenda. These include the recruitment of high quality staff, raising the profile of our portfolio of sold services, and the roll-out of a new e-news delivery system.

The Person

We're looking for an energetic, entrepreneurial and visionary manager. A proactive and dynamic team player, full of creative ideas and with a can-do attitude, you will be happy to roll up your sleeves and thoroughly immerse yourself in this exciting leadership role. We are looking for someone who can deliver results in a fast-paced communications environment with a proven track record of building relationships with and gaining the trust of senior managers and councillors.

You will have a strong knowledge of current digital platforms, and the latest developments and future trends. You will be a champion for our digital customers and their needs. You will have an entrepreneurial flair - as the team already brings in hundreds of thousands of pounds a year in income with genuine opportunities to significantly increase this over the next year or two.

You will used to making decisions based on measured insight and be a confident digital marketing professional with substantial experience gained within a private or public sector setting. If you have the ambition, resilience and energy to operate at the heart of local decision making, and are excited by the opportunity to establish our new Digital Marketing Team as a centre of excellence for user experience, Brent may be the place for you.

Closing Date: 2 September 2018 (23:00)
Assessment & Interview Date: W/C 17th September
