Overview and background to the role:

Since its inception 26 years ago, RMS has grown through recommendation and hard work, and is now a highly successful and well respected full-service marketing agency based in modern offices in the leafy and affluent market town of Altrincham, 9 miles south of Manchester.

Initially known for their expertise in legal and financial PR, RMS quickly developed their offering across a broad range of industry sectors and now boast a client base comprising of SME's and national brands, including several household names across professional services, B2B and Consumer.

With a plethora of awards and accolades to their name, the RMS team currently comprises of the Founder, 15 fee earners and two support staff. As a major part of their growth plans, the business is actively seeking to appoint a Managing Director to run the business and take responsibility for growth, profitability, targets, recruitment, team development, and the myriad of other things that come with the title.

This is an exciting time in the history of RMS. It is a bold and positive move designed with the intention of building further on what has already been achieved to date and taking the Agency to the next level and beyond. With the introduction of a new Managing Director, the Founder will move into a different role at Board level yet will remain involved in the business to act as an ambassador and to ensure continuity during this transitional phase.

The role will come with the following responsibilities:

*Taking overall responsibility for the day to day running and management of the company.
*Setting the overall strategic direction of the company alongside the board, driving the business forward and ensuring that all employees buy in to the company vision.
*Working with other board members to devise a 3 - 5 year plan for both new business growth and existing account development, including overseeing its implementation.
*Reviewing the current structure of the business, including all processes and procedures, with the aim of developing and implementing a consistent and robust structure to enable continuous growth.
*Looking for opportunities to increase efficiencies and speed up processes across the business.
*Analysing opportunities for growth in market segments and working with the senior team to execute new business strategies in order to drive profitability.
*Setting company wide KPI's to gauge company performance in all areas.
*Implementing a career development and training plan across the business in order to ensure succession planning, career progression, staff satisfaction and retention.
*Interviewing for senior positions within the organisation and signing off offers of employment.
*Meeting with the finance director on a regular basis to review the company's financial performance.
*Setting company budgets and forecasts alongside the FD and reporting results to shareholders on a quarterly and annual basis.
*Leading from the front whilst promoting and personally demonstrating the highest standards within the business for others to follow.

You might be currently operating at MD level in a similar size marketing agency but becoming frustrated with your situation for one reason or another, or you may currently be operating in a senior strategic role for a larger agency and looking for the next step in your career but finding that your path to the top is blocked. Whatever your situation, it is important that you have the following attributes:

*A strong and stable track record operating at senior and strategic level within a marketing agency environment.
*Passion for leading, motivating, managing and developing teams.
*A well-connected individual with a proven networking and pitching ability.
*Strong commercial acumen and with a good business brain, including previous financial and budget responsibility experience.
*Target driven with the drive and nous to spot business development and client growth opportunities and the ability to devise and implement a strategy to be able to convert them.
*Ambitious and driven but honourable and trustworthy.
*Charismatic and inspirational yet tough and capable of making difficult decisions.
