This role is a pivotal one within the company and needs someone who is a great communicator and able to work to key deadlines to ensure projects and processes are adopted and adhered to in a timely and costs efficient manner.

You will be leading across several areas so a “can do” and flexible attitude will be key personal attribute. The role would suit someone with a Quantity Surveyor (QS) background and a passion for design and architecture.

You will be reporting directly to the Managing Director and the Finance Director. The FD works one day a week so it will be important you are able to keep on top of the day-to-day financial health of the company.

An Associate Director is an important driver and ambassador of the business, significantly contributing to the smooth running and promotion of the company through active and positive participation in the operation of our Management Architecture.

This position plays an important and active role in shaping the future of the business through delivery of work, company initiatives and mentoring project teams to achieve the best results possible. You’ll be working closely with the Principals and Directors contributing to and mapping out the overall offer of the business, how we build internal capabilities to confidently present these offers to our current client base and prospective clients.

Project responsibility as Commercial Manager and overall accountability and expectations,

1. Client Liaison - supporting and leading client conversations at key stages of projects are necessary.
2. Proposals - producing, adapting and helping as and where necessary to produce fee, programme, procurement and commercial proposals which are right for our business and clients.
3. Systems - helping our existing PM systems streamline into a more efficient methodology (we are using Traffic and Excel).
4. Reporting - production and review of weekly reports and management of design team profitability.
5. Projects meeting - leading and attending where necessary the input and output of this key weekly meeting, ensuring all figures are updated accordingly and managing daily updates throughout the week.
6. Contract management - reading, amending and endorsing the right contracts for business / projects.
7. Resource management - working with assistant head of Projects to ensure the right people are assigned to projects at the right time and sourcing of new freelancers as and when necessary.
8. QA/ISO - managing our journey to ISO9001 and 14001 accreditation and ongoing compliance. Undertaking RIBA stage reviews and driving through ISO across the business. Value engineering where appropriate to a client’s budget while maintaining design philosophies of the business.
9. Finance - producing the monthly client invoices, validation of accuracy and chasing Design Team Leads (“DTLs) for sign off and then final submission to clients.
10. Generation - Working with head and assistant head of projects to drive sales figures in the business, through existing nurturing and new business meetings. Overseeing weekly sales figures and ensuring teams stay on forecast.
11. Commercial rigor - supporting the Studio Manager with the management of all external suppliers to ensure we are always getting best value for money.
