Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will hold overall responsibility to develop and execute the strategic marketing plan that will be in line with the overall strategy to drive revenue and business growth. The CMO will also ultimately transform the marketing into a world-class function to be a key growth engine of the business as it develops.

Based from our client's office in Yorkshire, the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) remit will extend to competitive analysis / market intelligence, segmentation, lead generation, product and market development, pricing, communications, strategic planning and growth. They will also determine the optimal direction for the marketing team, redefining as needed to ensure that it is set up for future success.

The role will also include but not be limited to:

* Be the face of Marketing to the Executive team
* Build on the current market analysis and segmentation work to build a clear picture of how the company's proposition should evolve and be communicated.
* Set the strategy and deliver best-in-class execution - ensuring that all marketing plans and activities are in line with the strategic vision of the company.
* Develop and execute multi-channel digital marketing campaigns with a focus on driving sales growth and maximising customer retention
* Ensuring a relentless focus on maximising ROI.
* Align the marketing team closely with sales, product and technology teams
* Oversee the full customer life-cycle across all segments, to achieve ambitious customer acquisition, retention and revenue targets.
* Take full ownership of product marketing and knowledge management to drive customer engagement and revenue growth


The successful Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will be to demonstrate an excellent track record as a:

* Commercial leader - understanding of the best digital marketing tools from a strategic and hands on perspective
* Customer focused - consistently optimise the customer lifecycle
* Strategic influencer - be a visionary, strategic thinker with the ability to effectively influence at all levels
* Change driver driving transformation and change within a similar business context
* Team Player - integrate into a small executive team and will be adept at building great relationships

To be successful in this rewarding but demanding role, it is likely you will have the following background:

* Previous experience in a CMO/Marketing Director role within the IT industry or in a B2B setting
* A track record of building and leading the (primarily digital) marketing function and capability in a high-growth, technology-led - and ideally challenger - B2B/B2C brand
* Experience of building and managing teams across the marketing mix and delivering exceptional results in a best-in-class environment.
* Comfortable owning the end-to-end customer funnel - including customer acquisition and the wider customer journey - and raising the marketing bar altogether to help the business achieve its objectives.
* Highly analytical with a clear ability to develop an end to end KPI dashboard to measure acquisition, share of wallet and retention.
* Experience of operating in a high-growth environment, and understand the complexity and challenges of navigating a marketing function through this phase of its lifecycle.
* Demonstrates both intellectual and strategic horsepower, combined with a relentless focus on execution and delivery.
* Have strategic mind-set, yet also able to adopt a hands-on approach, and be close to the detail, as needed.
* Be highly resourceful and pragmatic, finds a way to get to the right answer.
* Able to push the boundaries with innovative proposition development and brand initiatives.
