Design Week is looking for a Reporter to join its team on a permanent contract.
This is a very varied role in an exciting sector. You could be interviewing product designers and graphic designers one day, and exhibition curators and start-up company founders another.
- You will have journalism experience and be prepared to write across a broad range of subjects. A journalism undergraduate or postgraduate qualification is desirable, and you will have some experience of working on an editorial desk and have a portfolio of published work to share.
- You must be able to work to tight deadlines and juggle your own diary arrangements, which will extend to press conferences, events and editorial meetings, sometimes in the evenings. You will be a fast learner and worker, able to turn around great copy quickly, and will be a team player. You'll show an ability for finding and generating your own leads and be equally comfortable writing news, features and reviews, as well as analysing research. You'll have an eye for news, and know how to write original and exclusive content.
- You will also be comfortable working alongside our video producer on creating multimedia content, will understand website analytics programs and SEO, and will have a flair for using social media, including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Pinterest.
- You will be proficient in using content management systems (CMS) and editing imagery in Photoshop, and will be expected to load your own stories into the back-end of the Design Week site. You may also encounter specialist digital programs such as podcast, video and audio editing software, and equipment such as a DSLR camera. Ability to shoot good video on a smartphone is a big advantage.
