A progressive legal firm is looking for a PR Executive to join its Business Development & Marketing team. This is a large team, divided into three key areas Business Development, Marketing & Communications and Relationships.

The PR Executive sits within the firm's Marketing & Communications team, which is responsible for promoting a greater understanding of the firm's vision, brand values and market positioning, whilst ensuring the firm stands out from its peer group, so that it attracts and retains clients and talent. You will be part of a team which drives the firm's marketing communications, spanning the full mix including media. You will be primarily responsible for driving UK PR for a number of sector groups, supporting the PR Manager with other sectors and firm-wide PR, and assisting with international media relations. Key responsibilities will include:

* Designing and executing PR plans and strategies for your sector groups
* Working with the PR Manager and PR agency to ensure effective media relations
* Monitoring daily media for comment opportunities
* Responding to media enquiries and liaising directly with partners and lawyers in the firm
* Building relationships with journalists to proactively generate PR opportunities;
* Setting up and hosting media meetings and providing pre-briefs and follow-up to partners and lawyers
* Writing press releases, communications packages and other PR material
* Supporting the wider Marketing and Business Development team with content for awards and legal directories
* Uploading press releases to the website and distributing PR content via social media
* Providing PR support for events, thought leadership and other projects, and everyday work;
* Helping to maintain media lists, PR calendar, PR plans and other documents and systems;
* Managing ad-hoc tasks such as researching service providers and helping prepare and deliver internal presentations and media training

You will be a bright graduate or equivalent, preferably with qualifications in PR or journalism, and must have had previous PR experience within the legal sector or a professional services firm. A team player with a positive, proactive attitude, you will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with superb attention to detail and will have the ability to be confident and persuasive when speaking to journalists and lawyers, often at a senior level. Experience of using PR systems such as media database and monitoring services is highly desirable. In addition, the PR Executive will have a genuine interest in news, and an understanding of business issues and the media landscape.
