A global, big-hitting legal firm is looking for a commercial and ambitious individual with global mind-set and a proven track record in a similar professional services environment, who is driven to work in a high performance business development team where commercial insight, developing strong personal relationships and achieving tangible results are valued and recognised.

As BD Manager (Sectors), you will be managing day-to-day business development (BD) for three of the Global sector groups: Consumer and Retail; Life Sciences; and Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT). Working alongside the Head of Business Development (Head of BD) and the global partner leads (Sector Heads) for these groups, this position will play a key role in the development and implementation of the sector strategy.

Key responsibilities include working with the Head of BD and the Sector Heads of these groups to develop and deliver the firm's strategy for the sector, tracking key developments, coordinating internal sector knowledge building and information sharing, client targeting and development plans, as well as external profile raising. As well as day-to-day BD activity, the role provides market analysis and develops thought leadership products working closely with senior BD colleagues across all practices and offices and the global CRM team.

You will have a relevant business development and marketing experience at an equivalent BD Manager level within a professional services organisation or in the sector, with management of individual practice or service lines.
You will look to develop an in-depth understanding of the sectors the role supports (in terms of the market, the matters, the key players, the competition etc.). Previous experience of working in a role engaged in these sectors would be a plus, but is not essential. You'll have a proven track record of achieving product-line business objectives, and possess excellent communication skills - both written and oral with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills - with partners, key associates, and business development colleagues, clients and suppliers, with the ability to motivate fee-earners to engage on business development projects and to work with them to develop and implement business development plans. You'll have a proactive approach, balancing creativity, tenacity and energy, with high attention to detail and strong client focus. You'll be professional, proactive, creative, good humoured and enthusiastic approach to all work and interactions and have the ability to work to deadlines, juggle multiple projects and deliver under pressure.
