A leading global law firm is looking for an Interim Head of Marketing & Business Development and Practice Management - Finance Practice Group (FPG) to join them for a 12 month contract.

The Head of M&BD and Practice Management FPG has two distinct roles.

One facet of this role supports the Practice Group Leader (PGL) in all aspects of practice management, guiding and supporting them in their leadership role; including developing the strategy and ensuring that the strategy, plans, structures and financial management processes of the practice are in place, and aligned with the firm's strategic goals.

The second part of the role is to manage the global FPG M&BD team and oversee the implementation of the FPG M&BD group plan to ensure the firm can:
* maximise opportunities to grow revenues from existing and prospective clients across the practice;
* raise the firm's profile and position within key markets;
* leverage and coordinate people, knowledge and resources in an effective and efficient manner; and
* work collaboratively with the firm's industry sector groups (in particular FIS and ENRG) on joint projects and integrated campaigns.

This position works in conjunction with the FPG Practice Group Leader (PGL), the Practice area Leaders (PALs), other senior partners in the practice, the FPG Business Management team and regional FPG M&BD Managers to develop and implement the global practice marketing and business development plan in line with FPG business strategy and objectives. For this part of the role you will report to the Global Head of Practice Group Marketing & Business Development.

In addition to operational and team management, the individual will work closely with the Global Head of Practice Group Marketing & Business Development to develop and institutionalise best practice approaches across the five practice group teams and coach, train and develop the M&BD members to raise the profile of the M&BD team.
You will have solid experience in business planning and management, be able to think strategically and commercially with strong operational and project management skills and experience of, and comfortable in, a partnership or equivalent professional services environment. You will have a broad base of experience across the marketing mix, but with a strong background in client relationship management, pitches and targeting and experience of managing and motivating people. Desired skills include a good experience of operating in the legal sector or with a legal background and a good working knowledge of the financial markets. Excellent interpersonal and internal and external client-facing skills. You will have very strong influencing and persuasion skills, able to challenge the thinking of partners, be able to think broadly and demonstrate a high level of initiative, be highly motivated and an enthusiastic self-starter with a can-do attitude. You will also be commercially-minded with the ability to translate emerging business issues and developments into opportunities for the firm, and be resourceful and resilient, with the ability to adapt quickly to different situations and personalities.
