Communications and Marketing Manager 

Abbott World Marathon Majors is looking for a talented and creative Communications and Marketing Manager to devise and manage all of our content and customer engagement marketing initiatives. You'll take full responsibility for creating fantastic content on our website and other digital channels through the telling the journey of our hundreds of thousands of international marathon runners who have run or who want to run in the six greatest marathons in the world. Your content will be insightful, engaging, and authoritative. It should attract and retain runners.  

About the Role 

Working 21 hours a week based in our London offices, you'll be responsible for devising the AbbottWMM content and marketing strategy and then creating and publishing engaging content across all of the customer-facing aspects of our brand, including the website, e-newsletters, social media channels and other race collateral.  

You'll work creatively, liaising with the six Abbott World Marathon Majors races in the development of content. You will also assess how native content on AbbottWMM channels can be tailored to engage and inform our audience. Reporting to the General Manager, you'll work closely with the AbbottWMM social media manager and head of media to ensure the consistency of our brand and our values across everything we say and do.

You will be a brilliant copywriter with the ability to write consistently, from long form content and race reports to micro posts; able to find and communicate the storytelling niche for AWMM between the races and our partners. You will also edit, proofread and improve other writers' work and optimise our content according to SEO to ensure our brand is performing at its best. 

Requirements:
About You 

Essential 

  • A keen runner who is already knowledgeable about all aspects of marathon running
  • Editorial mindset with an ability to predict audience preferences
  • Demonstrable experience in writing engaging copy for websites, blogs or newsletters
  • Proven ability to produce creative and engaging digital content including video
  • A true love for the English language and excellent written communication skills, able to implement a distinct tone of voice following the brand guidelines
  • A wonderful portfolio of work to share with us
  • Experience managing customer insights, user feedback and surveys
  • Project management skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Office and extensive experience maintaining websites using content management software
  • Expertise in social media platforms
  • Understanding of the needs of international audiences so that content resonates for marathon runners across the world 
  • Able and interested to travel to international AbbottWMM races

Desirable 

  • BSc degree in Marketing, Journalism or demonstrable experience in these fields
  • Proactive, resourceful and able to take ownership and use initiative
