Unique opportunity to join a leading Energy business as a Market Research Strategist focusing on the European Gas Market.

The position is based in London, on the trading floor, with regular contacts with Houston, Singapore, Geneva teams and with Paris headquarters.

As the Market Research Strategist you will:

* Provide market reports and analysis to global trading desks and senior management, as well as to Paris headquarters, affiliates and market partners; create and update presentations on market-related topics
* Analyse market data, market prices, fundamental data (supply, demand, storage, weather impact...) and stay up to date on market structure in terms of companies, infrastructures and regulations
* Supervise relationships with Total market data repositories and develop new data sources
* Support senior management by maintaining information regarding the business activity: trading statistics, portfolio
* Understand what are the driving forces on the energy markets, apply economics concepts to forecasts and price determination mechanisms and play the role of European gas market market expert on the trading floor
* Ensure support to Paris headquarters on market-related issues that may arise on their regular activity
* Maintain regular contacts and exchange of information with in order to ensure coverage of oil markets
* Work in association with the quantitative analysts within the Research team to design models including supply-demand equilibrium models or price-determination models
* Maintain an understanding of the trading desks business models and stay up to date regarding their positions
* Develop a market view and produce trading recommendations, risk management advisories and/or price forecasts
* Proactively discuss and support market views to the trading desks or the management


The successful Market Research Strategist will have:

* At least 3-4 years of experience in a trading environment, covering energy markets. Knowledge of European gas markets is an advantage
* University educated (ideally at Master's level or higher) in Economics, Mathematics, Business or Engineering
* The position requires autonomy, objectivity, innovation, to be resourceful and well organised
* The applicant should be able to explain complex issues and present them in a clear and neat manner
* Fluent in English - knowledge of French is an advantage

Job Offer

£50,000 - £60,000 (depending on experience) + bonus & an excellent benefits package on offer.
