Internal Communications Manager

The company
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Wait a minute. No, it's just a regular everyday superhero working for Direct Rail Services. Going above and beyond the call of duty every single day.

Safe, secure, reliable. That's what our people make us! Whether it's cleaning up the past and protecting the future of nuclear rail freight, getting food to supermarkets on time or helping train operators keep their trains running.

And that's why clients as broad ranging as ASDA, Eddie Stobart and Virgin Trains love working with us. Whatever the freight service, we're here to save the day.

The role
This is a brand new role, based in a new, purpose-built site. But with all the security of a longer-established role, because your work is a crucial part of our 20-year corporate strategy.

We want you to come in and revolutionise the way we communicate with our people. Right now, we don't have intranet. So that'll be your first port of call. Beyond that, it's down to you to evaluate where we're at and take us to where we need to be.

From employer branding and conference management to external comms channel liaison (e.g LinkedIn and Twitter), you'll be the architect and implementer of strategic rollout. You'll even have an impact on our Equality & Diversity championship mission.

The person
No superpowers necessary. Just regular Communications skills finely tuned to brilliance. (Although you will need to abide by the Official Secrets Act 1911 and 1989.)

We're talking about outstanding communication skills and whilst qualifications are not essential, extensive internal communications experience is. Along with the ability to Respect, Include and Perform at your Best!
You'll also need to know just how change management works and how you can play a part in its smooth rollout.

Social media skills? Check! Intranet design management? Check! Outstanding proofreading and writing skills? Check! Are you starting to see why we'll see you as some kind of hero? We'll reward you as one too, with all the career development you can handle and a comprehensive range of benefits that includes a generous pension, healthcare cover, 34 days' leave, relocation assistance and up to a personal 5% and company 5% bonus.

DRS is a strong promoter of gender, orientation and racial diversity and particularly welcomes applications from members of minority groups. We are also happy to consider applications from candidates who would like to work flexibly.

Apply at the speed of light! Because, once our perfect superhero arrives to save the day, we won't be considering any further applications.

Application closing date: Monday 16th October 2017.
Interview date: Friday 20th October 2017
(Applications only accepted via the application pack.)
