A leading Scottish law firm is seeking a Head of Communications. This is an exciting and challenging role and as a key senior member of the marketing and business development team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of the communications strategy to support the firm's strategic objectives and achieve defined targets at firm and departmental level. In addition, they will align internal and external communications to ensure clarity and consistency of messaging to colleagues, business partners, clients and prospective clients, the legal sector and wider business community.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to manage a complex and challenging workload while proactively delivering exceptional results. They will work closely with the Managing Partner, heads of department, and colleagues in marketing/business development to ensure that the firm's communications activities are effectively coordinated. In addition, you will be required to manage two assistants.

The successful candidate will be based in Edinburgh, and will be required to work in Glasgow and Aberdeen on a regular basis. They will also be required to travel to London on occasion.

Responsibilities include:

* leading the formulation and development of the firm's external and internal communications strategy in collaboration with the operational and strategic boards
* ensuring accuracy and consistency across communications and driving colleague engagement in communications activity and responsibility for all external marketing communications (including annual review), internal communications, sponsorship activity, copywriting and advertising
* direct responsibility for all award entries and submissions to the independent legal directories
* providing media training and communications advice, and reputation management/crisis communications support for the firm, clients and business partners
* supporting PR objectives and refining social media strategy by analysing metrics and acting as a media contact and developing relationships with contacts in the national and trade media

You will be proactive, persistent, resilient and committed to doing an excellent job, with a proven track record of achieving strategic business objectives. You will possess a relevant graduate/professional qualification and have a minimum of ten years' relevant experience in corporate communications, either in-house or agency and ideally with a professional services organisation. You will have established relationships with the Scottish/UK media, including broadcast and trade/sector publications, the ability to work to deadlines, juggle multiple projects and deliver under pressure and have experience of managing a team.
