Head west of London for this exciting opportunity to drive the category agenda within the convenience channel for a major player in the OTC consumer healthcare market.  Working with a portfolio of well-known brands, you'll lead the charge on growing its presence in the on-line, convenience an discounter channels; taking on a remit to raise the profile of healthcare with a number of retailers and identify growth opportunities and white spaces for the brands, pulling on pricing, promotional and product levers.  This is an exciting role which will work closely with the Category Head to develop and implement customer category plans, visions and activation, building strong customer relationships and providing actionable insights to them to unlock incremental value growth.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing actionable insight to retail customers in order to unlock incremental value growth.
  • Developing strong external relationships with buyers and merchandisers across priority retailers; adding value to the relationship and becoming a trusted advisor with winning ideas.
  • Developing and leveraging customer relationships to maximise the company's range, position of shelf and depth of distribution across key customers, utilising category management principles, promotional and fixture analysis as well as strategic reviews of the category.
  • Managing the understanding of competitor intelligence from the retail customer, through both an in-store and market data perspective, identifying key drivers of growth.
  • Owning the development and cascade of KPI metrics within the retail customer

Our Ideal Candidate

With a robust background in category management, category insights or perhaps sales management, working with FMCG or OTC brands, you'll be looking for the next big challenge.  You'll have a solid grasp of the UK market, with an understanding of major retail and trade channels and will be looking for a new challenge in which to truly show your flair and get some solid achievements under your belt.  In what is a dynamic and busy environment, strong commercial acumen, interpersonal and project management skills are all essential.  Other requirements include:

  • A good grasp of category and shopper insight data.
  • Hands-on experience working with major retailers building category partnerships and plans.
  • Some Experience of working in the on-line, convenience and discounter channels a distinct advantage.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  •  An enthusiastic, positive approach; someone who will enjoy working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
