My client is a international recognised brand leading on the launch of Science Gallery London


Key Objectives

* Develop, own and implement communications and marketing plans for individual SGL public programming seasons of exhibition and events;
* Develop, own and implement communications and marketing plan for the launch of the Gallery in 2018;
* Build strong relationships with media to help deliver extensive and good quality coverage of SGL and its programming;
* Develop and maintain productive working relationships with marketing and communications colleagues within King's Culture and the wider university;
* Develop and maintain productive working relationships with marketing and communications colleagues at Science Gallery International as well as the other Science Gallery Global Network members (SG Dublin, SG Melbourne and SG Bengaluru, SG Venice), leveraging opportunities for cross promotion and collaboration.
* Develop and maintain productive working relationships with local stakeholders (e.g. Team London Bridge, other museums/venues in the area, Southwark Arts teams, Borough Market, London Bridge Quarter) and leverage opportunities for cross promotion and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

* In collaboration with the Programming team, create, maintain and implement exhibition led communications and marketing campaigns;
* Create, maintain and implement a marketing and communications strategy to launch SGL in 2018;
* Regularly source, generate and share engaging SGL/exhibition related content with existing and new audiences;
* Write press releases/briefings and build and maintain relationships with media including local press, national science and arts sections, sector specific media, bloggers etc.;
* Overall responsibility for SGL's digital and print collateral including website, social media, newsletters, flyers and signage;
* Liaison and collaboration with Culture & Engagement, PR and internal communications teams at King's, and local/like-minded stakeholders to support effective cross promotion of SGL and its programmes;
* Write/coordinate content and manage the production of SGL's Annual Reports;
* Briefing and working closely with external designers, writers, printers etc.;
* Science Gallery London brand management in partnership with Science Gallery International and the King's College brand team;
* Use and support development of SGL's CRM system to build and expand the contacts database for each audience group, media contacts etc.;
* Manage the SGL marketing and communications budgets;
* Ensuring that the SGL digital and print profile is accurate, up to date and reflects the SGL vision and tone of voice;
* Oversee the maintenance of the SGL website, social media and other digital channels;
* Manage a range of external suppliers including PR agencies, printers and graphic designers;
* Liaison with SGL corporate hire, retail and catering partners regarding leads, partnerships, brand guidelines and opportunities for cross promotion;
* Evaluation of SGL's communications and marketing;
* Line management of the Marketing & Communications Officer and the Community Engagement Manager


Thorough knowledge of a broad range of marketing and communications activities (media, websites, events, marketing, social media, publications), including good knowledge and understanding of the techniques and practical issues in creating and implementing communications plans for diverse audiences.

Excellent marketing and communication skills, both written and oral with a proven ability to adapt style for a variety of channels and audiences.

Excellent IT skills (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, databases, Google Analytics, CRM systems, website content systems, Mailchimp and social media)

Proven ability to research and identify marketing and communications opportunities

Proven track record of devising successful marketing and communications strategies

Ability to balance competing, shifting priorities on behalf of a team under pressure of deadlines and workload.

Effective project management skills, and able to exercise initiative and plan work independently

Knowledge of arts marketing and public engagement within cultural venues/other visitor attractions, with a strong network of relevant press and media contacts

Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and financial literacy

Ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities in a varied portfolio of current projects

Knowledge of digital media with awareness of current trends
