Client lead for your accounts.

To lead all aspects of your accounts and team across strategy, brand knowledge, opportunity development, relationship management, financial control and quality assurance.

To manage, support, mentor and develop junior members of the team.

You are the heart of the business and the team, responsible for the smooth running of the business both internally and externally. You are also key to identifying opportunities and looking to maximise strategic and creative excellence on the work we do. Many different people will be looking to you for advice, guidance, information and knowledge, including the junior team, the agency senior management team and your clients. You are central to the success of your accounts and are a key agency advocate and representative to colleagues and clients.

Responsibilities and Duties

Communication

  • To facilitate good communication across all who work on your accounts to ensure consistency of approach and understanding
  • To clearly communicate roles and responsibilities within your team
  • To adapt communication style to different people and situations, as appropriate
  • To manage conflict and difficult situations with constructive professionalism and a desire to find solutions
  • To manage regular client-agency review processes and obtaining regular client feedback
  • To conduct annual reviews for your direct reports, also providing regular ad-hoc feedback to aid their development

Client Relationships

  • To build and maintain strong client relationships that are viewed by both sides as a partnership
  • To earn the clients' trust
  • To partner with the client on a strategic level to identify and drive projects and help solve their business issues
  • To liaise with the primary client and other relevant client personnel e.g. medical advisers, to ensure full, 360 understanding of the brand and account

Strategy

  • To demonstrate strategic leadership on your accounts
  • To partner with the client in developing their marketing and brand strategy
  • To understand the agency and client strategic tools and processes, working closely with the Strategic Planning team

Research

  • To research subject areas and new developments relevant to the account or categories you work in to help identify and plan potential new projects and/or additional business opportunities
  • To have a good understanding of competitor activity and market context

Creativity

  • To establish and deliver work that meet the agreed marketing objectives for the brand
  • To work with the agency team to shape and develop compelling propositions and creative briefs, ensuring this is in line with the marketing objectives for the brand
  • To critically assess and direct creative work through alignment to the brief and objectives

Team development

  • To be the key mentor and director of your team
  • To ensure training needs are met
  • To hold regular team meetings
  • To take an active role in mentoring junior members of the account service team
  • To lead or input constructively into reviews and objective setting for members of your team, and ensure these are completed at all times required by agency practice
  • To provide regular feedback throughout the course of ongoing projects
  • To expose junior team members to aspects of your own role and responsibilities where appropriate, to increase understanding and encourage growth

Account Development

  • To identify and communicate opportunities for expanding accounts within clients
  • To be a business driver responsible for new organic and new business development
  • To review all material produced by the agency to ensure delivery to agreed brief
  • To ensure all tactical suggestions are justified and tailored to specific client and brand needs
  • Identification of new opportunities and development of proactive proposals
  • To act as an agency advocate, understanding and championing the agency's philosophy

Planning and project management

  • To review and manage internal and external resources to ensure that projects are initiated and fulfilled to the correct specificity and brand requirements
  • To oversee activity on your accounts, ensuring that agency standards of quality and implementation are maintained and agency systems and procedures are followed
  • To provide opportunities and encouragement to enable Account Executives and Account Managers to take ownership of specific projects
  • To ensure clients are informed on the status of each project at regular intervals - particularly when things change (eg. timing or budget)
  • To take overall responsibility for your team and all activity/projects on your accounts

Finance

  • To oversee and approve all job estimates/SOWs prior to sending to client
  • To ensure estimates are approved by the client prior to commencing work (please refer to individual client policies on POs etc)
  • To alert Client Lead and Finance Director to any change in specification that impacts on project costs and/or revenue
  • To manage projects within the budget agreed
  • To provide accurate financial information to clients and finance team for invoicing purposes
  • To review previous work and budgets to ensure that business and production processes are continually improved
  • To provide accurate information for, and take responsibility for, financial planning, revenue forecasting, WIP reporting and timely invoicing
